Baroness Thatcher died this morning following a stroke, her spokesman Lord Bell said.

My Statement on the death of Hugo Chavez
Dead at 58, an enemy of America is gone 
    I just came across this article (link below)  while reading about the Venezuelan dictator's death.  My daughter lived in Doral, Florida while attending school and I saw first hand the instinct of a strong people to escape a dictator's policies and start over in America, where people are still free to make choices.  At least in 1999 they were.  Before reading the article this morning I was thinking about my daughter's friend who fled Venezuela on the urging of his mother who feared for her children's future and the future of her country.  I could only imagine the fear that must have consumed his mother and the people of Venezuela as they anticipated the fist of a totalitarian leader...and then as a mother, I could only imagine the courage it took to insist your children leave for the promise of a free and prosperous life.  This is a story I hope to tell in greater detail, for those who have forgotten the blessings of America and for those who found security and comfort in the most generous country the world has known.  Upon arriving in this country, Venezuelans took advantage of the economic opportunity and they prospered and contributed to the growth and development of Doral, a vibrant community in Miami, Florida.  Read more

Famed Investor Trashes State of the Union Address: Makes You Wonder Whether Obama Is ‘Delusional’ Or ‘Lying’

Noted investor, free market advocate, and author Jim Rogers during an interview with Glenn Beck on Wednesday said that Tuesday’s State of the Union address makes you wonder whether President Barack Obama is “delusional” or just a good liar.

Our “debt is psychically impossible to pay off,” Rogers said after Beck asked whether the country has passed the point of no return. “We are the largest debtor nation in the history of the world.”

“If everybody paid 100 percent of their earnings as taxes, we still couldn’t pay it off,” he added.

The famed investor then turned his attention to the president’s statement last night that our economy is getting stronger.

“Mr. Obama said last night that everything is great,” Rogers said, much to Beck’s amusement. He added: “He said that everything is great and that the middle class is on the way back and everything is fine now.”

“I mean, the man is delusional. I was really afraid when I saw that,” he continued on a more serious note. “It’s delusional. It was frightening.”

“I don’t know if he believed it or if he was just lying,” Rogers added.

In an explosive exchange outside the U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Washington, D.C., security guards for billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg accosted senior Talk Radio Network investigative reporter Jason Mattera when he asked the mayor about his strong support for gun control.

Journalist Accosted By Security Over Mayor Bloomberg Gun Control Question

In the video, Bloomberg is seen surrounded by security. Mattera approaches Bloomberg and asks, “In the spirit of gun control, will you disarm your entire security team?”

Bloomberg’s reply:  “Uh, you, we’ll get right back to you.”

“Why can you defend yourself but not the majority of Americans?” Mattera asks as the mayor walks away. “Look at the team of security you’ve got.  And you’re an advocate for gun control?”

The video then cuts to Mattera walking further down the street when one of the men guarding Bloomberg, identified as Officer Stockton NYPD, stops Mattera and asks to see his photo ID.

Mattera complies before asking, “Is this standard procedure for the press?  Wait, wait, wait, it’s standard procedure to be questioning members of the press? 

The officer reaches inside his jacket and grabs a pen, as if to write down the journalist’s name.  “You’re going to write it down now?” asks Mattera.  “Oh, no, sorry,” says Officer Stockton.

The video then cuts to a scene further down the street where Officer Stockton, trailing Mattera once again, can be heard saying, “Mr. Mattera, sir?  Do you have a date of birth?”

“It’s none of your business what my date of birth is,” Mattera replies.

Mattera’s Jan. 18th on-the-street interview, done in conjunction with Talk Radio Network’s “The Andrea Tantaros Show,” is not the first time Mattera has received brusque treatment for asking liberal politicians tough questions.

The two-time New York Times bestselling author’s past on-the-street interviews have created viral video Internet sensations.  In 2011, Vice President Joe Biden warned Mattera “Let’s get it straight, guy--don’t screw around with me” when he confronted Biden about his use of a rape reference when discussing Republican opposition to President Barack Obama’s “jobs” bill.

The Washington Post calls Bloomberg “America’s most prominent and deep-pocketed advocate for gun control.”
